Disabled visitors to two Bristol tourist attractions can soon go to the loo and change in dignity after the city council approved new specialist toilets. Blaise Estate and Royal West of England Academy art gallery will install accessible Changing Places lavatories.
There will also be a new one at Robinson House care home in Stockwood. A senior officer decision notice published by the council on Monday, September 12, said: “Bristol City Council applied for funding from the Changing Places Fund in 2021 and have been successfully awarded £123,814 to install three Changing Places toilets in the Royal Academy West of England, Robinson House and Blaise Estate.
“This fund is administered by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.” It said the decision, by the council’s management of place director, was acceptance of the money.
