Residents have welcomed traffic calming measures which look set to be added to a "racetrack" road in Nottingham. The changes look set to take place in Parkdale Road in Bakersfield, as part of changes to 54 different roads in the city aiming to be improved by Nottingham City Council.
People living there have complained that drivers were using the long road, which is on a steep hill and includes a school as well as a number of houses, as a cut-through and driving at high speeds. The city council therefore wants to spend £50,800 to introduce traffic calming measures there after a consultation took place in August last year.
Amir Omid, 61, runs a garage on nearby Oakdale Road which received speed bumps a few years ago. He said: "I've been here for nearly 15 years. I don't think the traffic is too bad around here - it's busier in the morning than in the afternoon. It's always a good idea if it makes people drive more sensibly."
