NAGPUR: In yet another big and surprising move, the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) management has decided to change the Ranji Trophy team captain in the middle of the season. Now, Akshay Wadkar will lead the team in place of Faiz Fazal, one of the country's senior domestic players. For the remaining two matches, Faiz will play under Wadkar, who prior to Saturday was the vice-captain of the team.
The VCA management has made three changes to the squad. Yash Rathod, who was knocking on the selectors' doors for the last 4-5 years, received a maiden Ranji call-up. Under-19 skipper Mohd Faiz, who made history by winning the two titles for Vidarbha this season, was also rewarded. Jitesh Sharma, who was surprisingly not included in the Ranji squad, is also set to make a comeback into the team.
