Change aplenty at Leeds United Women as Rick Passmoor returns for second spell with club

Leeds United Women have confirmed several changes to their backroom staff ahead of the new season as the club prepare for the 2022/23 FA Women’s National League Division One North campaign. Julie Lewis, general manager, and head coach Dan O’Hearne and two of his staff, assistant Mick Wood and first-team coach, Martin Powell, have all departed the club this summer.

Both Lewis and O’Hearne had been with the team for over four-and-a-half years and contributed heavily to the recent transformation of the club, which they hope will help to bring success in future years. In comes Rick Passmoor, who has joined as the new manager, arriving from Scunthorpe United, where he held the senior role of head of academy coaching and coach development.

The 54-year-old returns to Leeds United Women after being in charge earlier in his career in a successful first stint at the club. Passmoor guided the Whites to the Women's FA Cup final in 2008, won the League Cup in 2010 and was named ‘Manager of the Season’ during the club’s time in the Women’s Super League.

He also achieved a similar level of success with Notts County Women leading them to three cup finals in two years between 2013 and 2015, losing out to giants of the women’s game in Chelsea and Arsenal. Passmoor now returns with “many happy memories” from his first spell with the club, which was ultimately one of the significant factors in his return to the club.

He told leedsunited.com: “From my first discussion, it was not going to take me long to say, yes, let’s get back to Leeds United because I have got many happy memories here. This club is at the forefront of British and UK football, so to be part of that with the Women’s team is really exciting. I am looking forward to working with the players and helping to take the side forward.”
