Chandigarh weather: Hot March to be followed by sweltering April, says meteorological department

CHANDIGARH: Temperature in Chandigarh has been increasing continuously for the last four days. On Wednesday, the mercury reached 37 degrees Celsius. According to the meteorological department, temperature will increase in the days to come and a severe heat alert has been issued.

On Thursday, maximum temperature was recorded at 37 degrees Celsius while minimum was recorded at 18 degrees Celsius. With temperatures soaring, city markets and tourist destinations look deserted in the afternoon. This March, the mercury soared to an all-time high in the last 10 years.

According to the IMD, in the next five days, temperature of Panchkula and Mohali, including Chandigarh will increase by 6 to 7 degrees and hot winds will continue.

Also, there is no chance of rain for the next one week. Temperature may go up to 40 degrees in the first week of April.

Already, temperature in most districts of Haryana has reached 37 to 41 degrees Celsius. Temperature in the districts of Punjab has also reached 40 degrees Celsius.
