CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government has decided to convene a one-day special session of the legislative assembly on April 5. The duration and subject matter of the business will be decided during the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) to be held on the same morning.
Punjab, in a special assembly session on April 1, had passed a resolution seeking immediate transfer of Chandigarh to the AAP-ruled state, as envisaged in the Reorganisation of Punjab Act, 1966. The move came in the wake of the Centre’s announcement that the Central Service Rules will apply to the employees of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
The Haryana politicians, cutting across party lines, had condemned the Punjab move at the time. Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had hurriedly convened the cabinet meeting, with some ministers joining it via online mode, to pass the single line agenda of the special session.
