CHANDIGARH: It’s after almost two years that the students of Punjab University will appear for offline examinations. The tests for all major courses start on Wednesday. Due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, all examinations in the previous two years were in the online mode.
Students from 200-odd colleges of Punjab and Chandigarh, along with 65 departments of Punjab University, are geared up for this challenge. The 2.5 lakh candidates include those from distance education courses and re-appear cases. Expecting the students to be a little short of confidence, the university has taken measures against mass copying.
PU controller of examinations Jagat Bhushan said: “After two years, we are going to conduct offline examinations, which is going to be difficult for both the organisers as well as the students. To check mass-scale copying, flying squads will visit the colleges and the PU departments every day. The examination schedule will be different for the undergraduate and postgraduate classes. Considering that the offline examinations are being held after two years, students were advised to practice time management. They must carry their admit card to the examination hall. Only a few international students from Afghanistan will appear for the offline examinations since they failed to get visa and were stuck in Afghanistan. The PU authorities are watching situation of the Taliban-seized country.
