Chandigarh municipal corporation writes to estate office for land to set up CNG station

CHANDIGARH: Since both petrol pumps of the municipal corporation (MC) at Industrial Area, Phase II, and Sector 51-A have emerged as key revenue sources, the authority has now written to the estate office for additional land to set up a CNG station too. The land is required within the current sites of the two petrol pumps. The estate branch of the civic body has already prepared a plan in this regard and shared it with the UT estate office.

Also, since the MC is setting up two new petrol pumps in Manimajra too, there is a provision of CNG stations there. Both the sites in Manimajra are on MC land so they don’t need land from the Chandigarh administration. The authority has started the process of hiring public oil companies to set up petrol pumps there.
