Chandigarh: Denied entry to club, group smashes cars, hurls stones

CHANDIGARH: A group of men turned violent after a nightclub refused them entry at Kalagram on Friday night, damaging eight cars and pelting stones.

Suraj, a security guard at the Jungle Bar club, said around six people came to the site but bouncers did not let them in. They went to the parking lot and started smashing glasses of cars with sticks covered with barbed wires and iron rods. The miscreants also pelted stones at the club and bouncers.

Vishal, an eyewitness, said he was going home and as he reached the parking, he saw some miscreants hurling stones. He alleged one of the accused put a sharp-edged weapon on his neck and started searching his pockets. “When he did not find any money, he left. The others were smashing windscreens of parked cars,” he alleged. A few claimed the accused opened fire too.

Another eyewitness said he was waiting for friends to go for a party at the club when the miscreants fired three rounds before fleeing. However, Jaiveer Rana, SHO, Mauli Jagran police station, claimed no bullet shells were recovered from the crime spot.
