Chance to run 'flagship destination' restaurant in one of Anglesey's most picturesque locations

An operator has the chance to run a 'flagship destination' restaurant in one of Anglesey's most picturesque locations.

Cemaes Community Interest Company secured planning permission in 2018 to convert Capel Bethlehem into a holiday let, cinema and eating place.

The group obtained funding towards the Cemaes Bay project in 2020.

Now they want interested parties to come forward and submit expressions of interest in taking on various elements of the site - with a deadline of midnight on April 7. It is on the market with Lucas estate agents.

A spokesman said: “The proposals are for the 1856 chapel building to be converted to provide two storeys of restaurant space and a ground floor bar/service area.

“The ground floor of the minister’s house will be remodelled to accommodate a commercial kitchen.

“A unique, high-end one bedroom self-catering accommodation unit will be created in the former vestry and the first floor of the ministers house which Cemaes CIC will operate and manage.

“The remainder of the site is to include a new fully accessible two storey seafront building with a cinema and refreshment bar on the first floor.

"The ground floor offers over 100 sqm of open plan space that is suitable for a variety of commercial and community uses.

“There will also be an adjoining two story retail unit.

“The company now intends to progress the project to the next stage, and to realise their ambitious plans to develop what will be a unique, flagship destination in one of Anglesey's most picturesque locations.”

The estate agent said: “As part of this next stage, Cemaes CIC is looking to engage with potential occupiers of the redeveloped site, and give businesses that have an interest in being part of this transformational and exciting project, the opportunity to register their interest, and potentially commence discussions over taking a commercial lease at the property.”

Cemaes CIC has RIBA Stage 4 detailed drawings and intends engaging a principal building contractor to commence construction with a one-year build period subject to securing the full funding package required.

The CCIC had previously said it plans to lease the restaurant on an initial ten-year tenure to restaurateurs who place Welsh business, in season local produce and employee development and training at the heart of their ethos.

The project has received money from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority which enabled the CIC to commission a geo-technical site survey to determine the optimum design and construction of the development.
