NEW DELHI: Pakistan's star batter Babar Azam was conspicuously absent from the team's training session ahead of their high-stakes Champions Trophy clash against India on Sunday, fueling speculation about his availability for the crucial encounter. Even as doubts lingered over Azam's participation, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi delivered a clear directive to the team — win “at any cost.”
Azam, who faced heavy criticism for his sluggish 90-ball 64 in Pakistan's 60-run loss to New Zealand, was the only player missing from Saturday evening's practice session. His absence raised questions, especially with PCB chief Naqvi in attendance. Interim head coach Aaqib Javed, addressing the media post-session, downplayed concerns, stating that Azam had chosen to rest.
