Arsenal will face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League last 16, while Chelsea will take on holders Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have been handed a rematch with Galatasaray.
The Gunners finished top of the league phase after winning all eight matches and their reward for doing so is to go up against the German side who overcame Olympiacos 2-0 on aggregate in the knockout phase play-off.
Should Arsenal get past Leverkusen, they will face a quarter-final tie against either Bodo/Glimt - conquerors of Inter Milan in the play-offs - or Viktor Gyokeres’ former club Sporting CP.
Elsewhere, Chelsea face PSG in a repeat of last summer’s Club World Cup final. This means Newcastle will take on LaLiga champions Barcelona and Liverpool will get the chance to avenge their league phase loss to Galatasaray.
Tottenham’s reward for a top four league phase finish is a showdown with Atletico Madrid, meaning Conor Gallagher will face the club he left in the January transfer window.
Manchester City were the first team drawn on Friday and Pep Guardiola’s will once again face Real Madrid in the knockout phase. The two sides met in the league phase with City winning 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Bayern Munich or Atalanta await the winners of that tie in the quarter-final.
Champions League last-16 first-leg matches are scheduled to be held on March 10/11, with the return fixtures taking place a week later.
