Champions League clubs battle Wolves for Chelsea striker Armando Broja

Wolves, Monaco and Bologna are all pushing hard to complete a quick deal to land Chelsea striker Armando Broja on a permanent transfer.

The 22-year-old is expected to leave Chelsea permanently this summer, having spent the second half of the season on loan at Fulham.

The Albania international is understood to be prepared to wait until after Euro 2024 before making a decision on his future. But competition for his services has intensified in the last week, and that could now accelerate a deal.

A number of Bundesliga clubs, as well as further Premier League suitors, have also retained a long-term interest in Broja. Both Monaco and Bologna will be able to offer Champions League football after strong domestic campaigns.

The Chelsea academy graduate was unable to hit full stride at Fulham after making the temporary switch to the Whites in the January window.

No sooner had Broja walked through the Craven Cottage gates than Rodrigo Muniz found his scoring boots. Muniz fired eight goals in as many Premier League matches, starting just days after Broja’s arrival.

Broja remains highly regarded by a host of clubs across Europe, and Chelsea are keen to help him take the next step in his career while also bringing in a sizeable sum for one of their homegrown talents.

Chelsea will look to gain as much leverage as possible from the academy graduates they aim to sell this summer, with Broja among them. Sales of homegrown stars count as pure profit in the calculations of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Regulations.

Chelsea maintain they will have no issue meeting the PSR framework, but the June 30 deadline for the 2023-24 season figures is fast approaching.

The summer transfer window opens on June 14, the same day as the Euros kicks off in Germany.
