Champion horse trainer Todd Austin among three charged over Birdsville 'jigger' incident

Racing stewards have charged champion outback horse trainer Todd Austin, his wife Toni Austin, and jockey Ric McMahon over an alleged incident involving a taser-like device ahead of this year's Birdsville Races.

The charges were laid by the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC), which has been examining the use of an electric taser, also known as a jigger, during track work at the 2022 Birdsville Races in August.
