'Chameleon' Miley Cyrus embraces the changing nature of fashion

Miley Cyrus is a 'chameleon'

Miley Cyrus is a "chameleon" who "understands" that fashion has to change.

The 32-year-old actress and singer is known for constantly switching up her style for each era of her life, rather than trying to stick to a "fixed image".

Her hairstylist Bob Recine told Harper's Bazaar magazine: "A lot of celebrities are very concerned with their fixed image, but Miley is a chameleon.

“Sometimes we do wet and flat hair, and then sometimes we reach the ceiling, like we did for the Grammys.

"She’s a person who loves change, and she understands that fashion is only fashion if it changes.”

The 'Flowers' hitmaker's love for fashion extends to her music too, including 2023 single 'Used To Be Young'.

When she was working on the track, she brought some Maison Margiela items from esigner John Galliano’s 2023 Co-Ed collection - which centred on the idea of "dressing in haste" - into the studio to inspire her.

One of the items she brought in was a dress the designer gifted her, while another was more of a "bedazzled, very old-Hollywood bodysuit".

Miley was glad to work with music producer Shawn Everett and have him understand her thoughts.

The singer said: "I can show him a painting or a dress, and I’ll tell him to convey those colors or that fabric with sound."

And Everett noted how the 'Wrecking Ball' singer wants her new album to take inspiration from the world of fashion, in particular Thierry Mugler's 1995 couture show with the likes of Jerry Hall, Kate Moss, Patty Hearst, Naomi Campbell and Tippi Hedren wearing 300 looks, including a robot-inspired suit Zendaya wore earlier this year.

He explained: “She’ll want it to feel like this specific runway show or something. I love when she talks like that. For me, it opens up a whole world.”
