Chainsaw Man season 2 is coming and it's officially titled the Assassins Arc.
Despite a slightly nervous wait for a Reze Arc follow-up, one of the best anime series has been renewed and we're eager to rev ourselves up for Denji's next challenge.
Ahead of our eventual return to the Public Safety Division, we've put together a guide to Chainsaw Man season 2, including a potential Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc release date, what chapters the anime will adapt next in the manga, and more. For more updates on some of the other biggest anime titles out there, take a look at our guides to Vinland Saga season 3 and Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 2.
Chainsaw Man season 2 release date speculation

Currently, there's no confirmed release date for Chainsaw Man season 2.
Assassins Arc was only announced at Jump Festa in December 2025 with nothing more than a key visual and brief teaser to show for it.
When taking other past similar rollouts into account (including Jujutsu Kaisen's Culling Game arc), that indicates we're looking at 2027 at the earliest for Chainsaw Man's return.
Chainsaw Man season 2 story: what manga chapters will be adapted next?

Since the anime is still technically in Part 1 of the manga even after the events of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, Chainsaw Man season 2 does get announced will work its way towards wrapping up the remaining three arcs before we officially enter Part 2. With that in mind, it seems likely that chapters 53 to 97 will be adapted over the next year years.
For season 2 specifically, we appear to be looking at an upcoming adaptation of the International Assassins arc (chapters 53-70).
The International Assassins arc (to keep it vague) features Denji's increasing notoriety, which puts him on the radar of various hitmen
Beyond that, the Gun Devil arc, and the Control Devil arc could come as part of future seasons or as a full movie. The Gun Devil arc is (you guessed it) the start of Denji's big fight with the Gun Devil. And finally, the Control Devil arc is one packed with some very big twists and betrayals, so we won't get into the details here in case of spoilers.
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc covered the Bomb Girl Arc and is very much canon to the main anime (so make sure you watch it). We go into details on the film sets up the next chapters of the story in our detailed Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc ending explained guide. But essentially, the movie shows Denji getting a better grip of his powers, gives fans more of the Fiends, and shows us a pretty brutal side to Makima as well. So, we are pretty much all set to see Denji face off against some more intense Devils.
As soon as we get concrete news and story updates, we will let you know. So, keep your eyes on this page!

We expect Denji (Kikunosuke Toya), Makima (Tomori Kusunoki), Kobeni (Karin Takahashi), Power (Fairouz Ai), and Aki (Shogo Sakata) all to return in Chainsaw Man season 2.
Following the events of the Reze Arc, we'll also likely see some Fiends return with Beam (Natsuki Hanae), Angel Devil (Maaya Uchida), and Galgali (Yuuya Uchida). However, since season 2 hasn't been officially announced yet, neither has its cast list. Stay tuned as more details come our way.

Chainsaw Man season 2 trailer
The first Chainsaw Man season 2 teaser, which you can see above, hints at Denji's upcoming tussles with a variety of new assassins.
It will be some time before we get another trailer for Chainsaw Man. However, looking at past trends, Chainsaw Man season 1's trailer was released over a year before we got the actual show, but only around six months after it was announced to be in the works.
Since Chainsaw Man is popular, it's possible we get a full trailer with animated footage for season 2 possibly around mid-2026. That's just speculation on our part, though. We'll be sure to update our timeline once we have word from MAPPA.
Will we be getting another Chainsaw Man movie?

Currently, another Chainsaw Man movie following Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc hasn't been confirmed yet.
However, it isn't off the cards either. The decision to make a Chainsaw Man movie instead of season 2 immediately after season 1 was to try and capture a broader audience, and because MAPPA felt that the Bomb Girl arc was a perfect fit for the big screen as well.
In terms of whether we will be getting more movies or going back to a traditional season model for Chainsaw Man, MAPPA President Manabu Ohtsuka isn't sure at the moment.
"We're always thinking about what's the best way to deliver Chainsaw Man to the fans who love the franchise. That's what's always on our minds. But how we're going to do it, if we're going to do it, we'll announce it when we announce it. We can't talk about it," he explained during an interview with Anime News Network.
We are sure a decision on the direction of the anime's big screen future will be made once box-office numbers are in. It will also likely be able to tell the studio what format most resonates with fans as well. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle recently broke box office records, signalling a potential market for anime movies to surge in cinemas. Only time will tell whether Chainsaw Man decides to stay on the big screen train or return to an episodic format.
