Cerra, Martin available for Blues in AFL

Unbeaten Carlton will be able to recall star recruit Adam Cerra and forward Jack Martin from their COVID-19 breaks for their AFL clash with Hawthorn.

Cerra and Martin, as well as coach Michael Voss, missed the Blues' rousing victory over the Western Bulldogs in round two after being forced into isolation.

But the trio will be available to face the Hawks at the MCG on Sunday as Carlton eye a 3-0 start for the first time since 2012.

Martin and Voss are already back at Ikon Park while Cerra will return to the club on Wednesday.

"We think he'll be fine, we've already got the clearance and we think he'll be fine," Voss said of Cerra.

"He's been largely unaffected so we think he'll be ready to go."

After a decade of poor starts to the season, Carlton suddenly have headaches at the selection table.

The Blues' deep midfield, led by Patrick Cripps and best-and-fairest winner Sam Walsh, is fit and firing and their VFL team is coming off a resounding first-up victory.

Voss will have to make one change, with defender Oscar McDonald struggling with a back issue and ruled out of playing against the Hawks.

"It's fine to speak about that next man-up approach but then to go out there and do that has been impressive," Voss said.

"The guys who have come in have warranted that selection, they've been in very good form and deserved their positions.

"We're going to have changes all throughout the year, we're not going to be sitting here with a stock 23 every week so we have to take a squad mentality."

Voss described his experience of watching last Thursday night's victory from home as horrible.

"I had everything available but when it got into the last quarter and the result was on the line a bit it wasn't the best time of my life," he said.

"I'm really proud of the club, we had to make a lot of adjustments during the week but the players just go on with the job."
