A senior officer of the Cantonment board in Belagavi was found dead in his official residence in Belagavi on Saturday leading to speculations about the cause of death, following which senior officials rushed to the spot.
The body of K Anand (40), CEO of the cantonment board was found in his house in the military camp area. According to police sources, Anand had not come out of his bedroom after having entered it on Thursday evening and had not given any information to the maid servants. As he didnot respond to phone calls also, the maid servants informed the former vice president of Cantonment Board Sajid Sheikh on Saturday morning , who in turn alerted the Camp Station Police. The police broke open the room to find Anand’s body on the ground.
According to Police, a death note and a small bottle of poison was found . Anand an officer of the 2015 batch of Indian Defence Estate Service (IDES), was a bachelor and native of Chennai. The Police informed the father of the deceased on the development. They said the body would be transported to Chennai after post mortem.
Police Commissioner S.N. Sidramappa told press persons that a poison bottle and death note was found beside the body of the deceased. He said all the samples had been sent to forensic science laboratory for testing and deathnote was being perused.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohan Jagadish, who visited the spot told press persons that a small quantity of bleeding was seen on the face of the deceased which might have been caused because of falling from the cot. And there was no sign of anyone entering the room forcefully, he said.
CBI inquiry
Recently CBI sleuths had conducted searches at the office of the Cantonment Board following allegations of malpractice in the recruitment of 17 personnel , which was held two years ago. However there was no mention anything related to CBI raid in the death note, the police commissioner said.
