Century Casinos, Inc. announced Friday that it opened its new land-based casino and hotel in Caruthersville, Missouri. The 26,000-square-foot casino offers 599 slot machines and nine live tables, a 50% increase in gaming positions compared to the temporary casino location, a restaurant, bar, and a total of 74 hotel rooms.
VICI Properties, Inc. funded development for Century Casinos’ new land-based casino and hotel in Caruthersville
The development cost of $51.9 million has been funded through VICI Properties, Inc. VICI also owns the real estate improvements associated with the Caruthersville project.
Casino development becomes a part of the company’s triple net master lease agreement with subsidiaries of VICI. Annual rent under the lease will increase by approximately $4.2 million.
“We are excited about the completion of the transformation of the Century Casino & Hotel in Caruthersville from the last remaining riverboat on the Mississippi River and a temporary location in a small pavilion during the last two years, to a full destination resort with a proper gaming floor, restaurant, bar, hotel rooms and RV park,” Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger, Co-Chief Executive Officers of Century Casinos, said.
“The new resort will provide much improved and more convenient entertainment experiences. … We look forward to attracting customers from further into Missouri, Tennessee, and Arkansas.”
Missouri Gaming Commission approved the move in October
During last month’s meeting with the Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC), the MGC approved the move of the Century Casino & Hotel Caruthersville gaming license from the temporary pavilion location to the new land-based casino.
Century Casino & Hotel Caruthersville opened its doors at noon for Friday’s grand opening. The casino offered guests its $30,000 Word Out’s Cash Giveaway. The giveaway is also scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
Of course, Century Casino & Hotel Caruthersville is Missouri’s first “non-floating casino” next to the Mississippi River. The facility offers hundreds of gaming machines and nine live table games for gamblers.
The casino encourages guests to stay at The Farmstead or its RV Park, both of which are open year-round and located right on the banks of the Mississippi River.
