The government has launched a centre to coordinate action against fraud involving civil registration records and nationality documents in a bid to curb identity-related crimes.
Deputy Government Spokeswoman Lalida Persvivatana said irregularities in civil registration records could give rise to crimes including the fraudulent acquisition of Thai nationality, misuse of stateless identities, mule bank accounts, money laundering, nominee business arrangements and illegal property ownership.
