French centre-left politician Raphael Glucksmann has announced his candidacy for next year's presidential election, seeking to challenge hard-left leader Jean-Luc Melenchon to lead France's fractured left, as a campaign increasingly dominated by the far right takes shape.
Glucksmann, 46, a Member of the European Parliament, who leads the Place Publique, party, announced on on TF1 television Sunday evening that he was running to "to win and to change France".
