Central London homes may come with intimidating price tags — the average Zone 1 house price currently stands at a wince-inducing £1,745,500, according to Hamptons estate agents — but there are relative bargains to be found with a bit of digging and delving.
The gaping gap between Zone 1 and Zone 2 property prices has narrowed by 61 per cent since the Covid pandemic began, from 151 per cent in 2019, when the average Zone 1 house cost just over £2 million, to 90 per cent today.
The difference between Zone 1 and Zone 6 has closed by an even bigger 142 per cent in the same time period, falling from 361 per cent to 219 per cent. This is partly due to the exodus from city centres in pursuit of more space, especially with many employers permanently adopting a hybrid working model.
