Centene, one of the nation's largest Medicaid insurers, will launch a gold card program in November that lets more than 160,000 qualifying providers use a simpler process for select outpatient services, the company announced in a news release on Oct. 13. Instead of waiting for a full prior authorization review, those providers will notify Centene in advance of eligible services.
A company spokesperson told Modern Healthcare that the program, formally called the National Performance-Based Gold Card Program, will apply across Centene's commercial, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid business lines.
