The recent exchange between Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla and Boston Globe beat writer Gary Washburn turned a lot of heads when it first hit the airwaves. Especially given how combative the Celtics coach seemed to be in the clip of an exchange the two had over Mazzulla’s predilection for 3-point shooting tactically.
But the exchange was not quite what it seemed at first blush, which Washburn broke down on a recent episode of the CLNS Media “Cedric Maxwell” podcast. They also touch on the controversial challenge made by Mazzulla during a game against the Toronto Raptors, which led to some tension between the two teams, and on coaching styles more generally.
The eponymous host Maxwell and his cohost Josue Pavon also get us up to speed on how Boston has been playing of late.
