When the Boston Celtics traded Javonte Green and Daniel Theis for Mo Wagner and Luke Kornet, it was seen as necessary to the club’s other teambuilding goals. That doesn’t mean everyone was pleased with trading away Green.
In a recent article by Heavy’s Sean Deveny via Adam Taylor, team president Brad Stevens felt some regret moving on from the former Radford star according to an anonymous Eastern Conference exec. “Brad (Stevens) always liked the guys like Semi Ojeleye and Javonte Green; he always regretted that they let Javonte go to get under the tax in that Daniel Theis deal (in 2021),” the exec said.
Green carved out a solid role for himself in his new home, averaging 5.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.7 assists per contest while shooting 54.2% from the floor and 35.5% from beyond the arc.
