Celtics’ Jayson Tatum discusses Cooper Flagg’s NBA potential

Cooper Flagg is expected to become a high-level NBA player. The Maine native is already taking America by storm and is the highest-ranked recruit in the country. Flagg’s rapid development has even caught the eye of Boston Celtics superstar forward Jayson Tatum.

During a recent conversation with Jeff Goodman of The Messenger, Tatum credited Flagg’s mentality, noting how he was willing to listen to the advice being given to him. Tatum was also impressed with Flagg’s relentlessness, as the future Divison 1 talent was attempting to swat away every shot and never backed down from driving on his man.

“I like him a lot,” Tatum said. “Obviously, he’s athletic, he can dribble, shoot. The thing that impressed me was how hard he competed on both ends. He’s got an edge about him, not arrogant. He knows he’s good, but he realizes he’s got a long way to go. He’s going at guys, going at the pros. He was trying to block every shot, getting every rebound. He wasn’t playing cool. He was playing hard, competing. He was asking questions a lot, listening.”

Celtics fans will feel an affinity for Flagg. The top prospect is a local talent that is highly likely to make it into the NBA. Flagg has been playing against professional talent and will improve in the coming years.

However, to get such a glowing endorsement from Tatum is a big deal. The Celtics star has competed against the best players in the world, so it can’t be easy to impress him and get his seal of approval. Flagg is going to be special, and who knows, maybe one day, he will suit up for the Celtics.

It was a smart move that every Celtics fan hopes pays off.
