Per the NBA’s Michael C. Wright, Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum has cracked the top five players listed in the league’s Kia MVP Ladder tracking the players most likely to win the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the 2021-22 regular season. “It’s probably long overdue, but let’s welcome Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum to the chat,” wrote Wright.
“Named one of the NBA Players of the Week on two occasions already this month, Tatum scorched the Utah Jazz on Wednesday for 11 of his 26 points in a virtually flawless opening frame,” added the NBA.com author. “Boston started the game shooting 15 of 19 from the floor and 7 of 9 from deep to capture its 21st victory in its last 24 outings by way of a 125-97 stomping.”
Citing an NBC Sports Boston postgame interview with Tatum where he shared that despite ample opportunity to slack off a bit with the playoffs just around the corner, the St. Louis native instead said that the team “wanted to come out and prove a point.”
