Celtics injury update: Kristaps Porzingis listed as ‘probable’ vs. Cavs Thursday with calf tightness

Star Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis has been downgraded to probable on the Boston Celtics’ latest injury report for the second game in their home-and-home series against the Cleveland Cavaliers set to be held at TD Garden on Thursday night, joining Jaylen Brown (ankle), who is listed as questionable for the contest.

The news about the Latvian big man’s calf tightness in the same leg that a strained calf held Porzingis out for some time earlier this season, comes ahead of a tilt vs. the Cavs that is also the front end of a back-to-back with the Orlando Magic.

The Celtics could elect to sit him while elevating Al Horford to a starting role given Horford will likely rest for the other tilt in the back-to-back, potentially offering KP more time to rest that calf.

Don’t be surprised if he does take the floor, but with Boston having played it safe with Porzingis’ calf before his recent return, a game or two off is not out of the question.
