Reinvention might just be the key word used to describe the Boston Celtics this season after major offseason moves and the subsequent changes they have created in how Boston plays has vaulted them to the top of the league’s standings. Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla went on record after the win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day to share how finding new ways to impact winning has been the motor of Boston’s success.
“When talent has to play together, each guy’s got to reinvent themselves a little bit,” he explained via The Athletic’s Jared Weiss. “And you’ll see Jrue (Holiday) reinvent his game as far as playing off the ball, playing when the matchup is on him and being involved in different defensive schemes.”
“We’ve seen (Kristaps Porzingis) reinvent himself as far as how we play a different style offense with him.”

“He’s not getting the off-ball actions that he was, and you’re seeing our other guys reinvent themselves and everybody’s got to reinvent,” added Mazzulla.
Even longtime Celtics stars like Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are changing how they play, incorporating more passing and post play respectively, and the results have been nothing short of amazing.
