Big Perk, finally a Hall of Famer? It’s true — though not exactly as one might think.
Kendrick Perkins, former Boston Celtics champion center and current NBA analyst, is set to be inducted into the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
Perkins had a thriving high school basketball career, averaging an impressive 27.5 points, 16 rebounds and nearly nine blocks per game at that level, catching the attention of NBA scouts and putting him on the career path he is still reaping the benefits from as a broadcaster. On a recent episode of the popular ESPN “NBA Today” show, Perk was lauded by his fellow cohosts.
He reflected on his journey, recognizing his family’s support, sacrifices, and determined mindset that led him to success, and thought back on facing off against Chris Bosh in a state championship game.
