Led by Boston Celtics alumni Daniel Theis and Dennis Schroder, the German National Team is off to a great start in 2022 EuroBasket play with an unexpected win over the French National Team in their first game of the European Basketball Championship series, as the quadrennial competition for basketball hegemony is called on that continent.
Schroder spoke with the press soon after Germany’s auspicious start to the competition with their win over the 2020 Tokyo Olympic silver medalists, relating how he believed that the German National Team was getting synergistic production from a newfound degree of chemistry previously absent from previous iterations of the team.
“I think our team chemistry is amazing,” Schroder said in an interview with Eurohoops TV. “I think we just have to keep leading.”

“We never had that before,” added the German floor general.
“Everybody is confident. Everybody is just stepping on the floor and trying to bring an impact to the game. I think everybody is happy for each other. It doesn’t matter who scores the basket, everybody is happy and that’s the way to go.”
“We did our job,” Schroder added. “That was one game and we have four left.”

Germany’s win against France was thus critical for any hopes of winning it all for Boston alumni Schroder and Theis.
