Celtic 'will do business' over Liel Abada as pundit expects Hoops to 'change the menu'

Andy Walker reckons Celtic will sell Liel Abada if Ajax are keen to snap him up.

The former Hoops striker believes the Scottish champions have shown over the past couple of years they are a club willing to do business if the price is right. Ange Postecoglou brought in Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis to Parkhead and sold both on 18 months later to Union Berlin and Atlanta United for profit.

Abada is another who arrived as part of the Celtic rebuild under the 57-year-old and has impressed when called upon with excellent numbers to his game. This season he has scored 12 goals and provided seven assists so far while last year he hit 15 goals and contributed 11 assists. Postecoglou has managed to replace outgoing players when they've moved on. Alistair Johnston, Yuki Kobayashi, Tomoki Iwata and Oh Hyeon-gyu all arrived in January after losing two players and all have hit the ground running.

Pundit Walker reckons Celtic will do business over Abada as he hailed his 'terrific' attitude and 'brilliant' performances in the big games. But says the club will miss him in much the same way as the double January departures of Juranovic and Giakoumakis this season as he made a 'change the menu regularly' reference.

He told Go Radio: "I think Celtic have shown over the last number of years that they are a club that are always willing to do business.

"And if Ajax are in for Abada, from memory, I think he’s got around 10 goals this season but he doesn’t play enough for himself. I think he’s fit. I think Celtic will do business.

"They will make a profit from him and they will go and get someone else. And you’ve got to say, he’s had a terrific attitude. He has been brilliant in big games.

He’s been brilliant against Rangers. He has scored goals on the big occasion and has looked an exciting player. Celtic will miss him in as much the same way as they miss Giakoumakis and Juranovic. These guys come and go and you change the menu pretty regularly."
