Celtic wait on Tierney windfall as Howe addresses Newcastle transfers

It's no secret that Newcastle United are keen to sign Kieran Tierney this summer.

The Magpies secured Champions League football for next season last night with a 0-0 draw against Leicester City.

Eddie Howe has guided the Geordies to a top-four finish in his first full season in charge.

And while the Englishman insists he won't have an endless pot of money to spend this summer, there's no doubt that the club's wealthy Saudi owners will back Howe in the transfer market so he can strengthen his squad appropriately.

And high on his wishlist is Tierney, who is clearly out of favour at Arsenal.

Howe said: "There is a small pool of players we can recruit. We have to recruit wisely, which we have done. This will be our toughest transfer window."

Tierney remains under contract at Arsenal until 2026 and earns a reported £110,000 per week.

The Scot moved to the Emirates in the summer of 2019 from Celtic for a Scottish record fee of £25million.

The Hoops inserted a 15 per cent sell-on clause in the deal, so will be in line for a tidy sum should Tierney move on this summer.

As well as Newcastle, it's said that Manchester City and Aston Villa are interested in signing the left back.
