Celtic transfer target Martin Dubravka seeks answers over his future

Martin Dubravka has pleaded to Newcastle for answers over his future amid transfer links with Celtic.

The Slovakian goalkeeper has asked 'What's the plan for me?' following his country's heartbreaking exit from Euro 2024.

The 35-year-old has been fully focussed on national team duty since the end of the domestic campaign.

In that time, Eddie Howe has signed two new keepers in the north east of England.

The Magpies sealed a double swoop for Nottingham Forest’s Odysseas Vlachodimos and Birmingham City's John Ruddy.

It's expected Dubravka - who is into the final 12 months of his contract - will leave, with first-choice Nick Pope also on his way back to full fitness after five months out.

He has made it clear that Celtic had expressed interest in his services years ago, with the Scottish Premiership champions seemingly keeping tabs on him again.

Brendan Rodgers is looking to find a new No.1 after Joe Hart decided to retire at the end of last season.

Newcastle's moves for Vlachodimos and Ruddy appear to have cleared the path for Dubravka to leave.

So, if Celtic do decide he's the man they want, there shouldn't be any roadblocks in the way for the experienced figure, who is believed to have options.

Speaking after the loss to England, Dubravka said: "I have no idea. I have seen they are talking with other goalkeepers. I need to speak with the manager first.

"What is the plan for me? What is my future? I don’t know if they want me to stay or not.

"It is difficult for me, because I have been focussed on my job with the national team."

Celtic are the only team in Scotland's top-flight who have yet to make a signing this summer.
