Celtic transfer latest as two players free to depart Parkhead with imminent loan exit praised

Celtic will allow midfielders Liam Shaw and Scott Robertson to find new clubs before the window comes to a close this evening.

Shaw joined the Hoops last summer from English League One club Sheffield Wednesday but has been unable to make much of a senior breakthrough under manager Ange Postecoglou. He has one senior appearance and has not featured competitively this term after a disrupted six-month loan at Motherwell in the second half of last term.

Football Scotland also report that Robertson is free to find himself a new club if one can be found in the closing hours of this summer's window. He's had a couple of loan spells south of the border, with his most recent taking him to Crewe Alexandra. The Hoops engine room is packed at the minute and senior teammate James McCarthy is another who will be allowed to head for the exit door.

Both Shaw and Robertson are in the same boat, in that either loan or permanent exits are being mooted for them. Another who may leave is Mikey Johnston.

The winger has been reported as on a flight to Portugal to complete a move to Vitoria Guimaraes and former Parkhead player Andy Walker reckons it's a great fit.

He told Go Radio: "What a great opportunity it is to go and play abroad, a different style and a different culture. It might be a bit more technical than here."
