Hajduk Split boss Gonzalo Garcia has revealed he will assess Celtic target Niko Sigur's 'mental situation' before deciding whether to pick him for what will almost certainly be his final game for the club.

And the Hoops face a battle with former Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou, after Toulouse joined the race for the Canadian international.

Sigur was left out of Hajduk's matchday squad in their weekend win over NK Osijek by the club's manager Garcia. Celtic have been long-term admirers of the World Cup star, but face competition from France.

Hajduk face a vital second leg of their Europa Conference League play-off against Polish side Rakow Czestochowa this week. Sigur played the full game in the first leg in Croatia.

And Garcia will assess whether Sigur is in the right frame of mind to play, after it was also previously reported that he was suffering from a slight injury. He said: "With regards to Niko Sigur, we will have to look at both his physical and mental situation before the second leg.

"But we need everyone to be available, and I need everyone to fight for each other."

Askou's Toulouse have also entered the race to sign the 22-year-old, after the Danish boss saw his new charges lose his first game in Ligue 1 to Lyon.
