Celtic table 'huge' bid for World Cup star as transfer speculation mounts

Celtic have made an improved bid for Egypt World Cup star Haissem Hassan, according to a new report.

The Real Oviedo attacker has caught the eye of Martin O'Neill's club after impressive performances, particularly against Argentina in the last 16.

The Scottish Premiership champions' initial £3.4 million offer was rejected, but they have now made a "huge" new offer, according to Egyptian outlet Al Gomhuria.

Celtic scouts have been tracking Hassan closely since his standout World Cup display, with O'Neill eager to add a natural right winger to his squad for the upcoming season.

Hassan, 24, has a £10 million release clause, but Celtic are hopeful of negotiating a lower fee despite interest from other clubs.

The winger was instrumental in Egypt's World Cup campaign, setting up Mostafa Ziko for the second goal in the last 16 match against Argentina and nearly sparking an upset.

Celtic's pursuit of Hassan is part of O'Neill's plan to bolster his attacking options, with the club having already secured the services of Camilo Duran.
