Celtic starting XI to face RB Leipzig confirmed as Giorgos Giakoumakis opens door for injury return

Ange Postecoglou has named his Celtic side to face RB Leipzig as he eyes up a first Champions League win.

The Hoops got off the mark last time out as they drew 1-1 in Poland with Shakhtar Donetsk. It was an impressive performance on the road from the Scottish champions, who were disappointed not to leave with all three points after failing to convert one of their numerous chances to grab that all important second goal.

On matchday one, Celtic also put in a solid display against tournament holders Real Madrid and struck the post through Callum McGregor before Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada missed big opportunities. They eventually went on to lose 3-0 to Los Blancos but it was a positive attacking display with the Angeball approach one that the Aussie boss doesn't shy away from.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been ruled out of this one as has longer term absentee Carl Starfelt leaving the door open for Stephen Welsh and Mortiz Jenz to partner up once again as they bid to make a huge impression on the biggest stage. It will be a big test for the duo, who will play a key part if Celtic are to return from Germany with all three points.

Ever-present No1 Joe Hart starts in goal with Josip Juranovic, Welsh, Jenz and Greg Taylor making up the backline.

Skipper McGregor - sent off in the weekend win over Motherwell - leads the side with Matt O'Riley and Reo Hatate alongside him in the middle of the park.

Jota and Daizen Maeda join Kyogo in the attacking third.

Celtic XI: Hart, Taylor, Jenz, Furuhashi, Jota, O'Riley, Maeda, Hatate, McGregor, Welsh, Juranovic

Subs: Bain, Siegrist, Giakoumakis, Haksabanovic, McCarthy, Bernabei, Abildgaard, Robertson, Forrest, Ralston
