Celtic star names the biggest thing he learned under Brendan Rodgers

Auston Trusty was a Brendan Rodgers Celtic signing, and says the former boss really helped him settle to the club.

The centre-back was brought to Parkhead from Sheffield United on a five-year contract in the summer of 2024 and the club went on to retain the Scottish Premiership title in his first campaign.

However, the following season didn't get off to the best of starts and Rodgers left the club under a cloud after an apparent fallout with major shareholder Dermot Desmond, who publicly had a go at him in a statement.

The rest of the season was rocky along the way with Martin O'Neill stepping in twice after Rodgers' permanent replacement Wilfried Nancy ended in disaster, the experienced boss eventually leading the club to a double.

Trusty spoke out in defence of Nancy in recent days and has also now talked up Rodgers, saying he learned a lot under the Northern Irishman.

Speaking on Mulgrew Pitch to Par, he said: "Just being introduced to the mentality of Celtic, really. The day-to-day, how you approach things. Only a winning mentality.

“Coming in from the outside, the players really introduce you to it as well. They really tell you what you’re going to walk into.

“Seeing how he ran the squad, if it was Kendo (John Kennedy) running the squad and the actual day-to-day, you learn a lot from just being in the mix.”

Trusty added: “Obviously, the stuff happened at the beginning of the season, it is what it is.

“I learned a lot. He had good staff, too.”
