Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi reveals Player of the Year pick as he talks connection with Hoops fans

Kyogo Furuhashi has revealed who he voted for as PFA Scotland Player of the Year as he opened up on is connection with the Celtic support.

The Hoops star has been nominated for the main award alongside Parkhead team-mates Reo Hatate and Callum McGregor while Motherwell star striker Kevin van Veen is the fourth player in the running after a stunning campaign at Fir Park.

His form hasn't gone unnoticed by his fellow frontman, who admits he handed the Dutchman his vote for the end of season award. Kyogo admits being nominated is a 'big honour' as he looks to help his side end the season on an almighty high by securing a Treble with Inverness standing between the Scottish champions and domestic clean sweep glory at the start of June.

Asked about being nominated, he told the Scottish Sun: “I’m very happy because there are a lot of good players in this league. So being nominated is a big honour for me.

“Being recognised as a good player is a big honour, as I’ve said before, but still I need to improve some parts of my game to be a better footballer.

"So I have to work hard. I wish all the players could be nominated but it’s only one person who gets the award.

“I’m happy for that. This is because of all my colleagues’ support so I’m happy for them as well.”

On who he voted for, he added: “The striker for Motherwell - Kevin Van Veen.”

Kyogo is always one of the first players to show his appreciation to the Celtic faithful by dancing with the fans home and away after each game.

He admits its the job of the players to see the supporters smile - a role he is more than happy to take on.

He continued: “Our job is to see the supporters’ smiles. That is what we play the game for and that’s why we want the win.

“We want to see the supporters with smiles on their faces is great to see all the time and recently we can dance together and that is uniting us and I am very happy about that.
