Celtic star Cameron Carter-Vickers left out of USA squad

Cameron Carter-Vickers is the latest Celtic player to have been surprisingly left out of his country's latest international squad.

Earlier today, it was confirmed that both Kyogo and Reo Hatate had been snubbed by Japan ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

There was a spot for Daizen Maeda, but two of the Hoops' best players so far this campaign were omitted.

Now, it appears that Carter-Vickers has been left out of the USA national team squad for their games at the end of this month.

The Americans will restart their CONCACAF Nations League campaign with matches against Grenada and El Salvador.

Carter-Vickers, who has been outstanding for Celtic in recent months, will not be involved, though.

Carter-Vickers was present at the World Cup for the USA.

Interim head coach Anthony Hudson shed some light on why certain players were left out.

He said: "There are a number of guys who are dealing with varying degrees of injury issues.

"We’ve spoken with the clubs, and in each case we have worked together to make a decision in the best interest of the player and to do our best to ensure they are available for us this summer."

There was also no place for Rangers playmaker Malik Tillman.

The reasoning behind Kyogo and Hatate's absences from the Japan squad was also explained by head coach Hajime Moriyasu.

He said: "As I think we all agree, (Hatate and Furuhashi) would absolutely be able to contribute to the team, but this time I wanted to try out some different players and that's why they weren't selected. I've watched all of Celtic's games and seen what they've accomplished and their presence on the team.

"But there's no bar to clear to be called up, it's a comprehensive decision. We think about the level of the league and various other factors when making the decision."
