Celtic scout Mohammad Abu Fani as Israel standout on Parkhead transfer radar

Premiership champions Celtic will run the rule Maccabi Haifa midfielder Mohammad Abu Fani in Israel's Nations League games – according to reports in his homeland.

Ange Postecoglou 's men are among four teams credited with an interest in the 24-year-old, who has 12 caps for his country.

Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt and Belgian clubs Standard Liege and Royal Antwerp have also sent scouts to watch the holding midfielder.

Fani made his international debut against Scotland two years ago and has gone on to become an influential player for Haifa, who stormed to the Israeli title this season.

He still has three years to go on his contract, but reports in Israel have suggested that his club won't stand in his way if any side meets his £800,000 valuation.

He hit the headlines in his country earlier this year when he managed to keep the ball at the corner flag for two minutes in injury time to waste time in a heated encounter against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Fani received racist abuse online after the incident and was backed by his club who called out the abuse.

Celtic have successfully raided the Israeli market plenty of times over the past decade with the likes of Nir Bitton, Liel Abada, and Hatem Abd Elhamed all being signed by the Hoops.

And they could be set to plunder the area again if they follow up their interest in Fani.
