Celtic's Champions League last 16 qualification odds slashed in wake of emphatic win

Celtic's emphatic 5-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava on Matchday One of the UEFA Champions League has seen their odds of qualification to the competition's knock-out round slashed.

Ahead of last night's match at Celtic Park, Betvictor had the Scottish champions at 20/1 to finish inside the new-look tournament's top-eight (thus ensuring automatic qualification to the Round of 16).

After Wednesday's storming victory, though, they've now cut those odds to 6/1.

The chances of Celtic winning the tournament remain minute, however Betvictor has likewise dropped the likelihood of Brendan Rodgers' side lifting the big cup from 300/1 to 200/1 in the wake of their Slovan Brastislava triumph.

On the night, goals from Liam Scales, Daizen Maeda, Arne Engels, Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah ensured the visitors' lone strike was all but a consolation.

As outlined last night by The Celtic Way, Celtic earned €2.1m (£1.77m) for last night's win.

The club has also banked €18.62m (£15.7m) simply from being involved in the league phase of the Champions League.
