Celtic reiterate 'absolutely prohibited' pyro message ahead of Aberdeen at Hampden

Celtic sent a reminder to fans travelling to Hampden this evening for their Scottish League Cup semi-final encounter with Aberdeen regarding the use of pyrotechnics in the stadium.

The club was most recently fined by UEFA for their display against Borussia Dortmund in Germany, after which the club and Brendan Rodgers vocalised objections regarding the use of pyro and smoke bombs at matches.

Commendable travelling Celtic fans heeded the message in their typically fervent support of the team against Atalanta in Italy last week, however the club has again underlined the fact that the same applies this evening.

"Celtic encourages our supporters to support the team positively," reads part of this travel advice post on the official Celtic website. "The club and its supporters are rightly proud of our reputation and we encourage all supporters to help foster this reputation at future fixtures.

"The possession and use of fireworks, smoke bombs, firecrackers and all pyrotechnics are absolutely prohibited, due to the serious risk to spectator safety."

Against Rangers in midweek, Aberdeen held a pyrotechnics and flag display in one stand, which the club's official social media channels promoted ahead of kick-off.

Aberdeen won the match 2-1, forging a nine-point gap between themselves (and Celtic) and Rangers in third-place.

Both sides enter tonight's encounter in fine form, with neither having lost a domestic game this season so far.

The only draw both sides have recorded to this point was against each other in the Scottish Premiership at Celtic Park last month.
