Celtic player ratings vs Rangers as Kyogo seals late derby drama with first Old Firm goal in thrilling draw

Celtic left it late to salvage a point at Ibrox but a second-half Rangers turnaround was cancelled out by a late Kyogo goal.

It took champions Celtic just five minutes to find an opening when speedy Daizen Maeda latched on to a reckless pass from Alfredo Morelos before the Japanese flew past James Tavernier and Connor Goldson before slotting past Allan McGregor. The heat of the derby began to reach fever pitch with both sides going close and having periods of domination, with Kyogo passing up a good chance before the break after Joe Hart tipped Ryan Kent's effort off the post.

Alfredo Morelos passed up two big chances to level the game before the second half brought a quick response from Rangers with Ryan Kent carving out a top corner finish after a great piece of movement from Fashion Sakala. The Zambian then used his pace to win a penalty that was converted by Tavernier in a huge five-minute turnaround at Ibrox.

The Hoops couldn't lay any threat on the home defence as the game edge towards the end before Kyogo smashed in after a goalmouth scramble to salvage a point in late, late derby drama. Here's how we rated the Hoops at Ibrox.

Joe Hart - 6

A slack mistake nearly gifted an opening but some save to make it up for it.

Alistair Johnston - 6

A busy start for the debutant but looked comfortable considering. He did the dirty work

Cameron Carter-Vickers - 7

A good few interceptions but also a few exposed moments. He is usually cooler in his play but did still deal with threats including blocking Tillman's shot and was massive in injury time with his strength.

Carl Starfelt - 5

Won a lot of his aerial duels and looked strong. That was until a needless foul gave Rangers a penalty and he looked rattled.

Greg Taylor - 3

A strong start but was forced off with an injury after 20 mins.

Callum McGregor - 7

A controlled start from the captain and often there in the key moments to pick up the ball. He needed more support in the second half that didn't come.

Reo Hatate - 7

Always picking up space and was able to offer a good pass but his decision making at times wasn't the best.

Matt O’Riley - 6

Great press to set up first goal and was right in the midfield battle, winning everything. Second half wasn't the best. Replaced on hour.

James Forrest - 5

Up and down in the first but not enough direct impact to merit his start. Replaced on the hour.

Daizen Maeda - 8

A superb run and finish in the first five, found himself beating Tavernier on many occasions. His second half was still a good showing but with less key runs.

Kyogo Furuhashi - 7

Wasn't involved much early but passed up a big chance. He couldn't find the right openings throughout. But he was the man on the spot to seal a late point - his first derby goal.

Subs

Josip Juranovic - 3

On for Taylor and had a few nervy moments on his unfavored left side, losing Morelos twice at corners. Was out of position for the equaliser and couldn't track Sakala for second goal. Possibly one of his worst performances for Celtic.

Liel Abada - 5

Was able to offer more width but not many key moments.

Aaron Mooy - 6

Brought some control to the midfield as Celtic had to regain their grip. He was integral in the goal.

Jota - 5

Was brought on to make an impact and helped set up the equaliser.

Giorgos Giakoumakis - 4

Not much from the big man in the final moments.
