Celtic 'make transfer enquiry' for Rangers-linked former SPFL star

Celtic have reportedly made an enquiry to AEK Athens over James Penrice.

According to GiveMeSport journalist Ben Jacobs, the Parkhead club are keen on the full-back this summer.

It's claimed an approach has been made over his availability as Celtic look for another option in defence.

Celtic currently have Kieran Tierney at left-back but will not have Marcelo Saracchi after the player confirmed he would not be moving to Parkhead this summer.

It means Martin O'Neill is light at left-back other than moving Liam Scales to the role instead of his more familiar centre-back position.

Interestingly, former Hearts defender Penrice has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers in recent transfer windows.

Reports in Greece had suggested a Rangers bid for Penrice was rejected during the January window.
