Celtic have made an "official approach" for Gangwon FC winger Yang Hyun-jun, according to reports in South Korea.
Yonhap News, a publication in his homeland, have indicated that the club have made an "official proposal" to the K1 League side, who currently sit second-bottom in the league in 11th place.
The winger has appeared for Gangwon 67 times, scoring nine and assisting a further five in all competitions
This season, Yang has made 19 appearances, scoring one goal and assisting another, in what has been a poor season for the side domestically.
Another Korean outlet quoted Gangwon director Kim Tae-joo as wanting to keep the player this summer, though he did confirm Celtic's interest.
Speaking to N Sports (as quoted by the Daily Record) he said: "It is true that Celtic has received a scouting offer for Yang Hyun-Jun."
"No, we will not transfer Yang Hyun-Jun this summer. I want to allow Celtic transfer to help the player develop. The transfer fee is not a big problem. However, the priority is to consider the current team situation.
"We also conveyed the position that we would release Yang Hyun-jun to the Celtic for six months and then send him to the winter, but Celtic is sticking to the position of wanting to recruit Yang Hyun-Jun this summer. The player also revealed to the club that he wanted to go to Europe."
If Yang is signed by the club, he will link up with another South Korean player in Oh Hyeon-gyu, who joined from Samsung Suwon Bluewings in January.
Meanwhile, Celtic midfielder Aaron Mooy is considering his future at Parkhead following the exit of Ange Postecoglou, according to reports.
The Aussie ace played a key role as the Hoops landed a historic treble last term, but injury ended his season early.
Mooy scored seven goals and assisted eleven more over the course of the season but some reports suggest that he could now be considering retirement.
A back issue appears to be his problem and Postecoglou's departure could see him hang up his boots for a final time.
Aussie outlet FTBL state a "well-placed source" has informed them that the midfielder contemplating his future with Brendan Rodgers now in charge of the club.
