Celtic linked with Darragh Burns transfer as Hoops and Hibs 'interested' in winger

Celtic and Hibs have been credited with a transfer interest in Darragh Burns, according to a report.

The 21-year-old winger, who plies his trade at St Patrick's Athletic, has clubs keen on his services both north and south of the border. The Scottish Premiership duo are said to have been keen over the winter with a number of English sides including Brighton tracking the exciting talent.

The Independent.ie claim the strongest interest to date comes from League One but Shamrock Rovers are ready to pounce if he does not agree a move to the UK. Saints' valuation for the winger is yet to be met at this stage with his current contract expiring at the end of the season. However, UK-based clubs would need to pay significant compensation based on length of service states the report.

The rules for domestic transfers for out of contract players are different with Burns able to relocate to another League of Ireland side if they are willing to pay a year's salary in compensation.

Ange Postecoglou has already turned Daizen Maeda's January loan transfer into a permanent deal with Cameron Carter Vickers also putting pen to paper on a long-term contract after his hugely successful season from Tottenham last term.

Benjamin Siegrist has also arrived on a four-year deal on a free from Dundee United to provide competition for No1 Joe Hart.

Alexandro Bernabei and Jota are expected to follow the trio in at Celtic.

Hibs have had an extremely busy summer with Lee Johnson continuing to add to his Easter Road ranks.

David Marshall and Aiden McGeady are the big names to rock up in the capital so far this summer with the total number to arrive so far under the new boss for the first-team set up standing at eight.
