Celtic-linked fan favourite Callum O'Hare available on free after Coventry release

Celtic-linked midfielder Callum O'Hare is available on a free transfer this summer.

The 26-year-old has officially left Coventry City after his contract at the English Championship club expired.

O'Hare - who has been linked with both Celtic and Rangers in recent windows - was a fan favourite down south and had attracted significant transfer interest.

Previous reports touted O'Hare for a move to the Premier League, while it was also claimed up to three La Liga clubs watched the midfielder in action last season.

The English midfielder played 36 times for Coventry last season, scoring 10 times and providing four assists. He is capable of playing right throughout the spine of the team from the base of midfielder into forward areas.

A Coventry City FC statement confirmed: "Coventry City can confirm that Callum O’Hare has left the Club following the expiry of his contract with us on 30th June 2024.

"Callum played 142 games for City and scored 18 goals, having joined initially on loan in August 2019 before making the move permanent in the Summer of 2020, and was part of the side that won the League One title in the 2019/20 campaign.

"A popular player with Sky Blues supporters, Callum also featured as the Club reached the FA Cup Semi-Final last season.

"Coventry City would like to thank Callum for his contribution to the Club that was unfortunately significantly disrupted due to injury over his last two seasons with us."

It comes after the news Vaclav Hladky had left Ipswich Town amid links to Celtic.

The former St Mirren goalkeeper left the club upon the expiry of his deal. Hladky previously claimed he turned down a move to Rangers for a switch to England.

Celtic were linked with the shot-stopped in January with reports in his homeland claiming the Scottish club had registered their interest.
