Celtic legend Henrik Larsson's footsteps followed by son Jordan as he seals Schalke transfer

Ask any Celtic fan about Henrik Larsson during his time at Parkhead and the first thing that comes to mind is the iconic number seven jersey.

It is a special jersey that will always be associated with the Swede, who will always be a hero to the Hoops faithful. Son Jordan is making his own steps in the professional game and has recently put pen to paper with Bundesliga outfit Schalke. The attacker - also an international for Sweden - has signed until the 2024/25 season after terminating his contract at Spartak Moscow.

It is a big move for the 25-year-old as he gets set for the latest adventure of his career and he has decided to follow in the footsteps of his famous dad by wearing the number seven jersey. During his time in Russia he scored 27 goals and made nine assists in all competitions and now can't wait to get started at his new club. He said: "I’m really happy that the deal is done. I’ve followed Schalke 04’s impressive progress over the last few months from afar. "I’m now looking forward to being a part of the team and playing my role in us having a successful season.”

Head coach Frank Kramer added: “Jordan’s way of playing football will fit right in here. He often looks to take on defenders and has the ability to beat them with his pace and technique.

"At the same time though, he knows how important his work without the ball is. I’m certain that he will quickly find his feet in our team.”

Sporting Director Rouven Schroder commented on the Schalke official website: “Jordan convinced us during our conversations that he really wanted to join Schalke 04 and help us in our mission to stay in the league. He can play off the striker or on the wings and his qualities will make our attacking game more unpredictable.

“He is not only dangerous in front of goal, but also regularly puts his teammates in good positions with good play from himself.”
